Saved by the Go Thump
Was getting ready to play a gig last night in a small venue. I have my new Peavey powered mixer and my new RCF 10's that I got the last week, and that was my PA solution. I really like the mixer (**** powerful at only 13 lbs). It is a better product than my old Mackie 808S (almost 50 lbs). Anyway, I realized that I needed speakon cables and I had left them home. Dayam. I thought, well small venue, I do have that little Mackie Go Thump that I use for a wedge from time to time. I put that bad boy on a stand and used the Main out of my powered mixer (can go to powered speakers which I really like) and cranked it.....sounded pretty **** good for that room. I had a couple of friends there who have heard me many times and they told me that it sounded strong and clear.....This is a listening environment where original tunes are welcomed and asked for, not a noisy bar where you are background noise. Needless to say, I will keep that Mackie Charged up in in the car.

Wonderful! It's always nice to have a backup, which is a big reason I always bring my Everse 8 as a monitor even when I don't need such. At most of the venues I play, the Everse would be not ideal but good enough in a pinch if my 30m blew up.
Very happy to see the Peavy powered mixer and all that worked out. |
