Just checking back in if people have any more comments or experience with the Retro series, particularly the OM-28 Retro. I have a mid-90s OM-28VR that I love and need to replace a HD-35 with a old Thinline to gig with. I love the OM-28 VR size, shape, etc. and hope it translates well to the Retro plus the benefit of the latest electronics.

MY GC just got one (OM-28E Retro), when I have time I will take my GPCPA1 and do a serious A/B, acoustic and amplified through a SoloAmp (whcih is what I use for small gigs), if the Retro is noticeably better I will buy it and there will be a GPCPA1 in the classifieds here...........

Nice! Look forward to hearing your feedback, that's the direct comparison I'm contemplating as well.

The shop where I bought my new 2012 D-18 also has the D-18 Retro for about $350 more. Same exact guitar with Aura+ in it.

I decided to go with the straight acoustic and put a Fishman Matrix in it instead.

Just don't like the idea of an heirloom Martin with permanently installed electronics inside it.

Got mine on Wednesday and gigged with it Wednesday night. I love the sound unplugged also but that isn't what I bought it for. These are stage guitars not sit in the case for 30 years heirlooms. They are made to play.

I'm taking it out again tonight playing with a 3 piece in a larger venue than Wednesdays, we'll see how it goes.

Here is a quick (fuzzy) video of the D18E Retro. Used a cannon EOS T3 from about 10 feet away with one of the PA speakers between the camera and guitar. I know nothing about cameras so the focus was bad but I kind of like the effect I still haven't messed with the preset easy settings on the plus. To me the regular F1 choices are good enough.
