9's are too loose for me, been playing 10's for 30 yrs. Ernie Ball Slinky's have been my main brand.

I switched over to 10-52s recently, with the 3 bottom strings top wrapped.
After trying everything from 10-46 to 11-49 and 12-52 in Eb, this seems to be the perfect combination.

I prefer 9's but I've got 10's on my Telecaster to compensate for the Bigsby.
I tried 11's once but it felt like I'd moved from guitar to bass territory. Also bigger strings might suite lead playing but I don't think they work as well for any sort of rhythm/strumming playing is my experience. Subjective of course. |

IMO, bigger strings might suit rhythm playing better because the chords will sound fatter. When it comes to soloing, don't expect to do Gilmour bends with 11's. I rather have 9's for lead playing that's for sure! Subjective is right! |

I use .10s. I feel like the tonal difference between .09s and .10s is pretty significant, especially on Telecasters.
