Now thats sad and funny, you reminded me if all i need ti get done!

I have an awesome guitar guy book recommendation... grace like a river by Christopher parkening. Autobiography with stories of being raised from 5 to be a concert musician, having pet otters he takes fly fishing, hanging with chet Adkins, finding gem Rodriguez guitars in piles of them in spain ...and finding faith. I could not put it down. Listen to his recording of bach's chaconne and you will hace immediate respect for his artistry and classical guitar wasnt really my thing.

I am a huge Iain Banks fan. His first published novel, The Wasp Factory, is one of the most disturbing reads I have ever come across. It became the definition of creepy for me.

And of course those Culture novels are fantastic, although some of the early ones do wander off a bit. Tragedy that he died relatively young.

Yeah I’m a big fan of the Culture books. Some of the best science fiction out there. However, I’ve avoided his general fiction books simply because of reviews like the one you just gave. I can take a little dark, but when every other person says, “That was one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever read.” Well, it’s not for me. His SF alter ego seems to be able to handle the dark side without reveling in it. I go back to Consider Phlebas and The Player of Games from time to time.

Paper: Beren and Luthien - Tolkien (basically a reprint of all the previously published B&L stories from all of JRR Tollken's writings, with a few extra editorial words from his son Christopher.

E-book: The Foundation Trilogy - Asimov. Slow reading on this one, find it very dry and hard to read, much like when I read it as a teen in the early 70s.

Yeah to me, if you have read Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales, these “new” stories are tough to get through all the rehashing to find the nugget of notes now included. Got to keep printing though. The Foundation is dry as is most of Asimov. He was an idea factory if not the best storyteller. I return to his work from time to time just to remember what fresh ideas sounded like the first time they were told.

The Crazy Life of Brendan Behan: The Rise and Fall of Dublin's Laughing Boy by Frank Gray.

I'm on a complete diet of Brendan Behan.

Right now I'm about half way through "Sam Phillips: The Man Who Invented Rock n Roll". Pretty interesting book.

Bill Evans: How My Heart Sings.
While some BE trio plays, makes a nice evening for me.

Fiction - I enjoyed watching the Shetland series and have been reading the books written by Ann Cleeves, which I like a lot. I just finished this one.

Non Fiction - I’m halfway through this book and think it’s a pretty interesting take on things.

I finished The Day of Battle: The War in Sicily and Italy by Rick Atkinson so I needed something light on the bedside table:

Doc: A Novel, By Mary Doria Russell. She is a great writer, and this is one of the best books I ever read.
