I have always kept mine at an angle. No issues at all. Never had one puncture or tear either. I use two in the sound hole and one in the headstock of the case. The one up by the headstock isn't even in a saddle pouch, just loose and flopping around up there.

Yes, my method is almost exactly the same as PhotoJeep's method.

You are most welcome! I found the big bowls at Target and the little ones at TJ Maxx (a dollar store will probably have both or equally workable versions)
