So I am sitting around daydreaming a little and looked at this pic again. Just look at the way the silking has come alive in this top with the finish! No wonder Ben raves about Dad's old Sitka!

Hooray, out of the finish curing process so I have pics to post and get this beautiful guitar off the second page!!!!

Unbeknownst to me, yesterday was International Guitar Buffing day...well at least according to Ben. I could find no documentation to that affect, but it did produce some results at least, a guitar too shiny to photograph well!

More!!! Now, I love a perfectly white, uniform Italian Spruce top as much as the next guy, in fact I have one and love it, but there is something to be said for the nice natural oxidation of the 40 year old Sitka top sitting around in the shop waiting to make music and developing dark streaks et.al.

Knew I would love that Honduran under finish! Wow. The binding and b/s are such a perfect match. And the top looks awesome, striping and all. Rosette really punched up. This is so cool. You have to be really stoked, Tom.

Thanks Dennis! I think the color of the coco bindings and the B/S are a perfect blend/contrast as well. The rosette came out really nice as you say. I am excited as I know how this one will sound, and then I am secretly hoping for even more than I expect!

I thought about that, but it will be ready for a couple of months before we go, so I don't think I can wait that long. Reno is only a 3 hour drive or so from where we will be, almost thinking of just stopping by to see the shop if we are looking for another day trip. We are going out there without any real itinerary at all....of course I have not mentioned this idea to Ben yet hahaha.

Looks great Tom (& Ben)...

P.S.

It’s apparently not international buffing and compounding day in North Carolina (despite what Ben tells ya). My guitar from John now 6-weeks post finish needs another small drop filled...

Thank Bob.

Maybe it has something to do with the International time line or something...I am sure the day of buffing will arrive in NC soon!

Beautiful, that top is great under finish. Lots of character and silking
