Default SOLD: 2013 Martin D-18 Authentic 1937 Dreadnought

New Old Stock 2013 Martin D-18 Authentic 1937 Dreadnought Guitar for sale. Purchased new by me in July 2014 from Acoustic Vibes Music, this guitar is in pristine condition and has never left my climate controlled studio environment. A robust tonal machine...

All original case and case candy included.

Shipped Fedex Ground ConUSA and paypal’ed for $4199 (new price on December 22nd, 2014)

I require no trades – this is being offered for sale to finance a set of competent studio monitors to facilitate an orchestral film score I’m working on right now - my PSI a-17M's are overwhelmed!

Please note in the photos, anything that looks like a spot or issue is glare and light reflection. I simply could not get my camera to cooperate with the light when I took these shots. This guitar is in superb condition with no issues to detail.

Have you checked the serial number on this one? I believe they discontinued the model in 2013. Maybe it was NOS from 2013?

It is a 2013. I was in negotiation to buy this guitar, when I was distracted by another guitar and got back too late for this one. I could not believe when they got it in stock.

This is a very good price...if the timing were different, I would love to buy it.

^^^^Yes, indeed...

Thanks to both for update - I have corrected the initial listing data to reflect that this is a NOS 2013 model.

Bump,

Best,

Mike

These models are one of the finest sounding Mahogany dreadnoughts made in the last 50 years. Amazingly loud with tone for days!!! Good luck with your sale. I've played almost all the Authentic Martins and these and the D-28 31 sound best to my ears.

^^^^ Thanks for the comments, Bobby! I'm with you. The '31 is really just a fun beast in so many ways: big, well-defined notes...

This '37 is what I think everyone hears in their head when they think classic D-18... The Authentic line is firing on all cylinders right now. I still hold out hope of keeping this one, somehow.

Bump...

Best,

Mike

Strongly suggest you run an ad on the San Francisco Bay Area Craigslist.

A friend recently sold his 2011 '37 D-18A for $5300 cash in about 5 days. FWIW, I just sold my 2011 D-45 for $6K cash in ONE DAY on this same CL.

Lots of well-heeled guitar players in Silicon Valley.

Thanks Bill! I'll give CL a lookover... Wow, if Martins are going for that much, I may need to load up a truck full of gear and head over to The Bay!

My Best,

Mike

They are not going for that much. I have never heard of a D-18A selling used for that much & I have watched the market closely & owned & bought & sold a number of them. That price is about $1300-1500 higher than the market for a non- burst model. Maybe a couple of hundred more for a burst.

Let me know if I can answer any questions!

I assume the answer is no, but if it's new old stock, does it come with the warranty? I don't care about the warranty for regular Martins, but I'm told it is an important thing to have on the Authentics.

I'm the original owner, and per Martin's website they do not transfer warranty on any instrument. (I think this is typical with the larger manufacturers). All that being said: This guitar has been stable as any modern Martin guitar I have owned, if not more so, given the heft of the neck on these particular D-18A's.

Bump for new price on December 16th, 2014... Two interested parties, but still available for now.

Best,

Mike

I replaced the link, but Photobucket has gone crazy with the ads/spam... It makes me sad - they used to be decent?!?

Best,

Mike
