Michael is an awesome guy. Very humble and approachable. This build is coming along great!

Daniel,
I have the same rosette on my Placencia. Once you have one Bashkin you'll want a second!

This is the image that convinced me that spalted maple was the way to go.

I was also considering the OO before I got my Baranik Retreaux.... Too many guitars, too little time...

Is your Placencia the one with the honduran rosewood head plate and maple half moon on Michaels website?

Your back and sides looks like it came from the same wood as Jmat's klepper build thread that is about. 15 threads down from this one. Has to be the same tree don't you think?

Yes thats my Placencia on his website, the top has darkened quite a bit since those photos were taken in 2007.

That's a gorgeous guitar.

If I hadn't given in to temptation and done the inlayed headstock, I would have done the same style honduran headstock as well - in fact, I actually asked Michael about that option.......

How's the OO vs the Placencia

My Bashkin 00 that Michael built in 2009 probably uses Panamanian rosewood (Dalbergia tucarensis) from the same fletch as the current build also:

That what Michael used when I asked him "What does a finished Pan. Rosewood guitar look like?"

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but the question was asked about when my new Bashkin is due. The answer is tomorrow. Shipping FedEx Priority Overnight today. Michael and I looked over the 10 day forecast early last week, and it should be in the 40's when it leaves Colorado, and in the low 60's when it arrives in Little Rock. I'll still have some "staring at the box" time, but nothing like what it would have been a couple of weeks ago.

Has it arrived?
