That’s where I mounted mine. Upper bout, stuck to the back wall of the body, below sound hole, right next to the side of the guitar. If I’m playing, and I lean back and look down, I can see it there. It doesn’t bother me.

The bags for both my guitars with the Anthem SL are situated ON the upper bout, about even with the soundhole... I don't know if I'd put something on the back of the guitar, although any adverse affect would have to be extremely minimal st the spot jkilgour mentioned...
