What do you mean by "figured out how the program worked"?
(That score seems impossible for a normal human!)

Well, she is a little too brilliant for a normal human, but she looked at the code and figured out the timing, then played it. Kids!

My daughter is a brilliant coder. No exaggeration. She played the game once. Got a high 800 something. Then her real talent kicked in and she checked out the code of the website, figured out how it worked, did a few test runs, then played again and got this. All in about 40 minutes.

Still not getting the clue - is the app cheating somehow? So after reading the code you can tap differently to "cheat" the app instead?

For example in IE browser when on website you can right click and see code by picking Inspect Element. You can alter the code (easiest is probably altering the Get Time class function). Code altering is what she did.

Picture of some of the code:

Well, I wouldn't call it cheating. If you enjoy the app and it's helping you, you may not want to know this, so SPOILERS ahead.

What she found out was that the site doesn't actually time your taps with the beats as you'd expect. Instead, it starts a timer at the beginning of an mp3 where it plays the click sounds, which is, according to her, a much easier way to program the site and to do the fade out. It works well enough to determine lower scores and to tell the difference between a lower and a better score. But, since there's no guarantee that the browser will start playing the mp3 the instant that the program calls it and that the timer starts, it's not so accurate at higher scores. In addition, she found a 26ms delay of silence at the start of the mp3 sound file which shouldn't be there, so even if you tapped perfectly, this silence would make all your taps late. She adjusted for all this and began the tapping at the precise corrected moment and controlled the tapping to make it even.

She did not alter the code at all. That's not what she did. The result is a real feedback from the unaltered program.

Very, very, much doubt that.

She looked at the code and that enabled her to tap the keyboard with perfect (super human) timing. Nope. Discuss it some more with her.

She sent me the screen shots showing how she did it. It did not involve altering the code. I think your insistence that I do not know what I'm talking about is now being insulting. If you can look at the code yourself, you can see the issues I posted earlier.

Just common sense. Believe what you will, and so will I. Moving on now.
