Default Well this is a first for me - modern technology

I just completed a transaction with a guitar shop 1,170 miles from my home. No big deal, you say. True enough. So what's the big deal? This is the first guitar transaction I've completed while sitting in my car in some anonymous parking. I don't take calls or text while driving so I pulled off the road when the dealer called me back. From there it was Paypal via iPhone and the item and invoice were on the road.

I just nailed down a 2016 Gibson SG Standard '61 Reissue Limited Edition. After Gibson discontinued these in 2012 a couple of guitar shops got together and commissioned a run with really nice specs.

Where the heck did you dig that up? It's the spec, all right, right from the website. As I understand it, only two dealers, Dave's Guitar Shop and Sweetwater, went in on the run.

I'm a frequent cyber guest of Dave's.... and love the eye candy he has on display. (incl. your new acquisition).
I don't know which dealer you went with (they're both good) but I've bought two guitars (a tele and a strat) from Dave in the past, and he is about as good as it gets when buying sight unseen. Just a great and trustworthy on-line source for that sort of thing.
That SG is a classic for sure. Enjoy!

I bought from Dave's. Thanks for the reassurance on the dealer. It's good to hear!

Two thoughts come to mind. Dave's is so worth not using modern technology and visiting the store. There can be more of one guitar model there than many stores have good anything. What's a few hundred feet from a Mississippi River slough might not hit you until you leave. Buying my Collings in person had Dave put one of the 1930s Martins in his collection in my hands. It's a museum as much as one of the best shops in the world.

On modern.... Now that's paying with your wrist watch.

My guess is most guitar forums will confirm a poor experience with Dave's is uncommon. Look how big the place is on a map, know it's two stories, and know it's full of guitars (acoustic, electric) and amps.

Enjoy it in good health!
