Acoustic Layla Eric Clapton Unplugged

Really that whole album introduced me to the idea that the acoustic guitar could be a lead melody instrument.

For both the harp and guitar it has to be I Should've Known Better by the Beatles in A Hard Days Night.

Early Birdcall Morning by Joe Walsh on his Barnstorm album was an inspiration to delve into finger style guitar.

The Banana Boat Song by the Tarriers. It starts with a simple two note repeating riff, the notes are a fifth apart. This captivated me and at seven years old, I wanted to do it.

Not a specific song, a band. Van Halen.

I quickly developed a love of guitars and playing and wanted a hobby which could take me all the way into my retirement years.

James Calvin Wilsey's sublime tones were mostly a catalyst in the beginning.

First thing I learned to play was Blackbird by the Beatles. I thought I was pretty good for playing that but quickly realised a better idea would be rather than learn how to play a song (on loop), I should learn to play the guitar - so I did.

It was 1981 when I started to play. That was the very first piece I learned on the guitar.
This is my favourite thing to play now. I saw Steve Hackett play it earlier this month and once again I was thinking I should learn to play guitar.

Girls......not some song "Girls", the real ones, that's what made me pick up guitar. At 16, making contact with these lovely creatures became very important....and there was the music too.....

For real?
The Ventures - Walk, Don't Run
Actually, it was that song and my cousin's band.
The only thing that didn't have the Fender name on it was the Gretsch drum set.
