Default Worship Leaders?

Wanted to start a forum on how many of us are worship leaders. Not so much if you participate in a worship team (or praise band some call it). I am from upstate NY and most of the time worship leaders tend to have gigantic Ego's up here. It is probably the single most frustrating and discouraging thing for any worship leader who is trying to do networking to see/experience. So I figured why not expand out of NYS I am sure there are a ton of us who are humble and gracious out there! Just be cool remember this isnt a achievement measuring contest but merely a chance to get to know one another as guitar enthusiasts as well as worship leaders.

If you are a worship leader answer some of the questions ill post. Anyone can add or ask more

1. Where are you from? (New York)
2. How many years have you been leading? (11 years)
3. Favorite Guitar (Breedlove Legacy)
4. Favorite Worship Song (Home-Bethel)

There's a pretty big worship contingent here on the AGF, but we tend to keep a low profile given the very reasonable rules of this particular playground. Nevertheless, I'll bite:

1. San Diego originally. Now Durango.
2. 30+
3. Favorite guitar ever? Tough question. But I've been leading worship almost exclusively with my trusty Renaissance RS6 for 15 years.
4. It changes frequently. Probably "To You O Lord" by Graham Kendrick. Maybe "Bless the Lord" by Jeff Deyo or "Days of Elijah" or "Embracing Accusation" or "My Help" by the Brooklyn Tabernacle. At least that's what comes to mind right now. Ask me in a month, I'm sure the list will be different.

I'm no worship leader, but I've been playing P&W music for over 20 years (I've played drums primarily), but I have played guitar as well.

1. Where are you from? (North Carolina)
2. How many years have you been leading? (Playing 20+ years)
3. Favorite Guitar (My favorite guitar that I actually own is my Taylor GC8 w/K&K mini pickups)
4. Favorite Worship Song (Right now, it's "Found in You" - Vertical Church)

I'm not ashamed - I think we both understand whence I speak - and based on past posts I've never seen a discussion of location/experience/equipment/song preferences and suggestions within the CCM/P&W genre shut down to date (a big thumbs-up to Glenn, Mark, and Marty here for all their fine mod work )...

Former worship leader here:
  1. New York City
  2. Various assignments with several denominations during 50 years as a church musician
  3. Rainsong JM1000/JM3000; Ovation USA Custom Balladeer; Yamaha SSC-500; Gibson LP Studio '60s Tribute w/P-90's; Gibson SG Reissue bass; Ibanez SR405 5-string bass
  4. Revelation Song - Don Moen

Interesting: Also NW Suburbs.

Been doing it 21 years. Not as primary leader. But I've worked with them all and am the Elder for CW.

Guitar: Been through many. A Taylor 714, then 1957 Gibson J50, now mostly my Luthier built Nick Lucas model.

Fav song?; No idea. We've done a ton. Praise songs are nice and fun. But I really enjoy the special anthem numbers we do mostly. (Where you at? We're in AH).

What a great idea. Hello all.
1. Dallas, Texas - actually a suburb of dallas. Wylie, Texas.
2. 20 years leading
3. That's a tough question but I've been leading with a Martin D-18 for the past couple years with a couple of "guest" appearances now and then.
4. Favorite song changes. "Lord I need you", "because he lives", "death was arrested".

1. Now in central Oklahoma
2. Started in central California in '81, so, 36? Not contiguous though
3. Love my small bodies (OO, x12), but am also enjoying supplemental instruments now (mandolin, baritone, banjo, ukulele, electric, Nashville strung, etc.)
4. Too much change to keep track of, but In Christ Alone has been a favorite for several years.

If you guys want to continue, but the thread gets shut down, there is a social group option that can be managed inside the AGF, kept private, by invite only or whatever rules you want to set up. The posts are restricted in length (not too bad) but it's a great way to utilize the AGF and not cross any rules or guidelines.

Best,

Phil

Oh Man,
Jeff Deyo is a definite throw back. I remember seeing him in concert i think i was only like 10? (25 now) I think he was one of the first christian artists i actually bought a CD for. Good stuff.
