Default Martin Trussrod Question

I am replacing a neck on a Martin 000-16RTGE and i had a tough time getting the trussrod out of the channel. In looking at the trussrod it looks like Martin put glue down the sides of the trussrod. Can anyone confirm if that is the case when Martin puts the trussrod in at the factory? Should i do the same for the new Tussrod?

Thanks,
Keith R

If it is a single action truss rod (aluminum channel), then the answer is yes. Heat it to remove it.
I use a heat lamp.

I have always used Titebond or hot hide glue. No issues. Other than gluing under finish pickguards, I haven't used epoxy at all since the 1980's.

Default question about re-using truss rod

If OP is 'replacing a neck', then what's the worry about the truss rod? It can stay in the rejected neck. Martin truss rods are inexpensive and the mailman can bring a nice new one to go into the nice new neck. At what I'm guessing is the cost of a neck replacement, if I was doing the work I would not re-use old parts salvaged from the original neck. The cost savings would be a rounding error.

Martin no longer sells the one-way aluminum channel truss rods, but Stew Mac still has them.
Salvaging some parts is pointless, but re-using that type of rod is relatively simple and painless.
