I grew up on the McDonald's fries which I assume qualify as shoestring?

I prefer them to just about any type of food, potato based or otherwise

Which is why I only get them on rare occasions. Afraid of becoming dependent, I guess.

Okay, In my Opinion, McDonald's doesn't qualify as a shoestring fry, but I know what you are talking about, McD's fries are thinner.

I'm talking about deep fried French Fries that are probably HALF as thick as a McD's Fry, they've got them here in Spokane, Post Street Pub.

The beer and the burgers are the best here, but the Shoe String fries BLOW !!

Are you familiar with 5 Guys? Not my favorite, but it sounds like what you are describing. I'm not a fan of 5 Guys or their fries-- Greasy.

I'll Google that, I'm assuming that's a Franchise? Are thin shoestring Fries a Western USA sort of a thing? I can't imagine they would allow this in NYC,

Steak fries for me. The only kind I make at home. For fast food, I'd rather have BK fries than the potato strings at McD. Any thinner I'll pass, thanks. I grew up in a French family, and we knew how to make "pommes frites" ... twice fried potatoes ... the original French fry.

I like McD's fries, I think I like them because they are saltier and the texture, but, a Steak Fry will win my loyalty in a heart beat,

McDonld's don't qualify at all. Can't stand the little shoestrings fries! You can't get ketchup to stay on them and they're a royal mess.

Five guys is a franchise. We have them here on the East Coast. Not recommended.

After thinking about this some more, I think you are right Loo. The only way you can get ketchup on a McDonald's French Fry is if you dip it into a cup, you can't directly apply ketchup from a dispenser directly onto a McD's fry,

H

It's a travesty, we can get to the moon, yet we can't engineer a fry that will hold its ketchup (well, I guess we can, in a Steak Fry)
