Wegen M150

Though sometimes I'll switch to an Ultex Jazz III if I need a brighter sound.

Fender Medium as well, and never on a Fender guitar. They sound best on a Gibson go fiquire.

Right now, I'm into the V-Pick "Acoustic." I read some information from the V-Pick website and it seems that it's 2.75mm in the middle with a long, sharp bevel. If I understood what I read correctly it's made of a "plexiglass/cast-acrylic" material. I'm liking it more everyday...

Clayton Standard .8- only pick I use. Have tried dozens. This is it for me.

"Ultem is remarkable for creating crisp clean tones, on even the dullest of strings. This pick is made of the highest grade material to ensure your guitar produces the cleanest, brightest tone available. This pick closely resembles the true sound of actual tortoiseshell that is so widely desired. However, it will not fracture like tortoiseshell and is one of the strongest picks on the market."

From the Clayton web site - FYI.

Two different threads?

Decided to take advantage of a sale and recently bought a "Handfull Of Picks" from "Breezy Ridge Instruments" (some interesting sounds in there, though I'm still looking for something I like better than the V-Pick "Acoustic"...)

I use cheap cellulose (I think) Martin thin picks. I don't understand how a lot of guitarists use thicker picks to tell you the truth for acoustic. When I use thicker than thin, I hear the plastic of the pick 'clacking' against the strings. To me it sounds horrible... the thinner the pick, the more you hear the strings and less the pick, in my opinion.

I do use medium and heavier picks for electric to get more attack, but it doesn't really matter for electric.

You don't hear the flopping sounds that the thin picks give?

Flopping? No, I don't hear anything. The only thing that I hear is when I use a medium or thicker pick and hear the annoying plastic sound every time I strum. Maybe I strum in a different style than you.

Used Fender mediums for over 40 years. Now I use Ultex picks. 1.0mm on acoustic and .73 on electric.
