LOL, Mary. Now can we see some Cat in the Hat inlay? If my kids weren't apparently future drummers (or hammer dulcimer or even xylophone players) I'd pay to see that!

I thought it looked like the bike equivalent of a harp guitar...

Thanks to all of you who have offered thoughtful suggestions concerning my lack of sleep

Here is a pic of the one part of this guitar I am really mourning - covering up this beautiful piece of Coco for the Hollow Back:

I asked Tim to continue the segmented concept of the rosette with the headstock as well:

And now some precision work as Tim installs the knight head into the headstock:

Now it is in place and needs to dry:

Chasin' rabbits? I blame Neil. He started it.

Sure looks like this is going to be a beauty. I was one of those early Mcknight customer who can claim to own one of Tim's first post Somogyi summer internship beauties......acquired before Tim become a luthier rock star

It great to see his progress, and own a classic!! I'd love to hear one of his smaller bodied guitars. Could there be an 0-style in the works?

Great builder and an even nicer person..

Thanks for sharing - you know, there is one surefire way to hear a smaller McKnight, I think you need to get on the wait list! Interestingly about this build, I actually considered discussing with Tim the idea of him building me two different guitars, one as a "couch guitar" and a larger one I could use to lead worship. If I went that route I would have went with the very basics as far as options go to keep the price of both near Tim's base price. In the end I decided going the direction of one highly-versatile guitar suited me better.

Here is a sneak peek of the Brazilian bridge:

Everything in order to begin work on the bindings:

Binding going on:

I've finally got an opportunity to update progress again - just over a week now till the guitar show, and I'm also going to see Tommy Emmanuel play tonight, so it will be a great guitar week!

Staining the neck:

Tim has started the process of finishing the guitar - I believe he did three coats the first evening:

Wow, now I really envy you: a McKnight build almost completed AND an impending Tommy Emmanuel show?!? I gotta tell you, you're a very lucky guy!

This has to be one of my most favorite parts of the entire building process when the finish goes on and I get to see the beauty of the wood finally "pop" to life under the finish. Notice how dull and hazy the wood looks on the lower part of the body. That is what I get to look at most of the time during building. Its only in the final latter stages of the build that I get to finally enjoy the true beauty that God bestowed in the wood.
