request: "Never Going Back Again" on resonator
Hi folks,
I've got a rather odd request. I've been toying with the idea of adding a resonator to my solo act, which consists of stripped down fingerpicked/fingerplucked arrangements of classic rock, pop and country on a dreadnought. I've always suspected that Fleetwood Mac's "Never Going Back Again" would sound pretty neat performed on a resonator. I realize it's quite a longshot, but would if anyone who has a resonator that's set up to record, and is familiar with the song, would hash out a few bars of it, I'd love to hear one. I don't have access to a resonator, so I can't try it for myself. Crossing my fingers! Last edited by simply rod; 10-03-2013 at 07:45 PM. |

Nope sorry. Don't know it, and would only be able to play to my built in Mac mic if I did. But any old ragtime should give you an idea of what that song would sound like on a resonator, at least the beginning.

Indeed! Definitely the sound and feel I'm looking for. Thanks for showing your face in the video, too. Always nice to see a real person playing, rather than Ichabod Crane.

Oh no! That ain't me! As I said, I don't record, and don't even have camera that shoots film!!! I just literally searched "ragtime resonator" on youtube and that was the first thing that came up that had a similar feel to Never Going Back Again's opening.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Here you go, three different guitars all recorded in glorious ipad sound. Should give you a good idea what they sound like.

Wow, thanks a ton for taking the time to record and upload that. I'm pretty sure I can incorporate a half-dozen or so resonator tunes into my set, so I'm now officially on the lookout for an entry-level guitar. The tricky part is that I'm in Japan.
I've just placed a bid on a Republic, after seeing that it's got a 1-13/16" nut, but it might not stay in my price range. Anyhoo, thanks again! |

Teleplucker, great demo! I liked the radiotone the best for that particular song. On another note, what happened to the grille on the resorocket?

I've got a volume control mounted through one of the holes on the lower grill, no mod required for that, is that what you are referring to?
The radiotone is my new favorite.
