John leventhals pedalboard/amp
Just came back from seeing rosanne cash and john leventhal in concert.
I was blo.wn away by leventhals tone and playing ability. Was wondering if anybody knows what gear he uses. Interested in what pedals and amp he had. Looked like a big fender the size of a twin maybe smaller. And he was working a pedalboard pretty regularly..I could not see it tucked behind his monitor. Anyone? |

Here's a picture of one I found on TGP. John generally uses BF Fender amps. Great player. I had the opportunity to speak with him on the phone about 15 years ago. Super nice guy. We didn't really talk guitars or gear though, which is probably a good thing as he's known to not like to talk about such things. Good for him. Rosanne is great but I really liked him with Shawn Colvin the best. As I recall, he plays the bass on Marc Cohn's "Walking In Memphis."

Toward the end of the video, John gives props to Eddie Berman for the selection of his compressor. Eddie is one great fella, guitarist, and retailer. He works at Sound Pure in Durham, NC. Acoustic player that I am, I give my highest recommendation for anyone who seeks good counsel on all things guitars/pedals/amps/etc.

Eddie sold that Mirage comp to John when he and Roseanne were playing in Durham. John gave a shout out to Eddie at the show. They are pals.

I have long held that many, many more people should be treated to Eddie's playing. He is among the best I have ever heard.

Saw Roseanne and John a couple months ago, what a great concert. Darn tasty guitar player/arranger/producer/songwriter guy.
His subtle tremolo use almost made me want a Strat again. |
