I saw Sheryl Crow at a small coffeehouse last night.
Hello,
Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to a small, surprise Sheryl Crow show in Seattle. The show was at a coffeehouse called Roy Street Coffee and Tea- it's a cool independent store owned by Starbucks but with tattooed baristas, wine and beer, and real bar food. Great space. Ms. Crow played acoustically and had a backing band that all played acoustically as well. No amplification. She had a Gibson flattop, and amongst the band were a mandolin, resonator, bass, tambourine, and a couple of other instruments. She played about six songs, and was joined by Brandi Carlise for two of them. It was marvelous. Ms. Crow was funny, energetic, and a fine guitar player! The backing band was tight. Being in that intimate setting made it really special. I was sitting five feet from her, literally. Great way to start my weekend!

I've always been a fan, happened to see her on Letterman last night (was a repeat). Did she play much country? Apparently she now lives in Nashville, and is going in that direction.
Either way, must have been a great show!

Wow -- that had to be good. Was it a public event? If so, was it announced at all, or just a total surprise? And give us a little more info on what she and Brandi played, if you could. Lucky guy!

One thing I've observed is that many of us refer to musicians, actors, and the like as "Mr./Ms. Crow" instead of "Sheryl." This form of addressing people, especially in indirect reference, doesn't seem to apply to other "categories" of people. I wonder why that is? (Disclaimer: I'm not a native English speaker)

It's so cool when you can experience someone of that caliber in an intimate setting, really lets you see the talent that made them famous.

I saw Sheryl Crow at a small coffeehouse last night.
Very cool! Reminds me of the time in the mid '80's that my friend invited me to accompany him to his friend's birthday party. A small get together with about 50 friends. Oh and the musical entertainment for this private party? Jorma Kaukonen!

i must admit that i'm not a "big" Sheryl Crow fan, but every time i hear her play i always love the way she sings. she seems to use her voice in different and exciting ways.
i'd love to see her in such an intimate setting as your were privy to last night. it must've been wonderful!
