Default Do you drink tap water?

Or use it for cooking?

Flint, MI got me to thinking... why the big uproar, i haven't used tap water for drinking or cooking in years Don't they have access to bottled water up there?

Our water system is laden with heavy metal and they dilute it with water from other sources to be legal. But, the system goes down at least once a week and looses pressure. We are about 10 miles from the water plant and there are so many farms between here and there that we are to boil any water to be used for consumption.

Luckily, there is an ice/water station near the grocery store we shop at so, we fill our bottles there for 25 cents a gallon...

We're on our own well, out here in the Oregon countryside.

Best water I have ever had...bar none.

I will wash and , to some extent cook , with the tap water here .
Drinking water and general consumption water is spring water that I get at the source .
If it were not for the usual chlorine odor , I would use tap water 100% .
Having drunk well water previously for 27 years , I have standards .

We have a 500 foot deep well with great water, so yes. In general, I like to drink carbonated using a SodaStream device -- often with a small amount of Ribena added to the bottom of the glass for flavor and vitamin C.

I drink and cook with tap water all the time (northern New Jersey). I do filter it, but nothing heavy duty. One reason I do that is because most bottled water comes from a tap. Maybe not your tap, but a tap. I don't believe there is any assurance that most bottled water is better than what I get from my tap (although it is likely better than what folks in Flint get). At least I get to look at the yearly tests done by my municipality. I have no doubt that most people rely on their municipal water because they could not afford not to.

What assurance do you have that the water from that water station is better than what you get from your tap? And should I treat Texas like Mexico (or Flint) and never drink the water?

Many in Flint are poor. 41% are below the poverty level and cannot afford to buy bottled water, even at $.25 per gallon.

We're on a well originating in a pristine drainage, and it tastes delicious. When I lived in San Diego, the tap tasted like a swimming pool and caused skin conditions in my entire family.

I mostly drink tap water at home, cook with it, and reserve buying bottled water when out of the house and traveling. My favorite brands are Arrowhead and Evian. I hate how Aquafina is often the only brand available at airports or convenience stores.
