Default polar vortex again and humidifiers on overdrive!

The title is actually a misnomer but the weather stations are spouting that because it sounds "powerful" on news-ertainment.

Anyway, you might remember me gloating about 67 degrees and sunny blue skies two weeks ago.

Yeah....not so much....

It was -6 this morning when my wife left for work (rural mail carrier......brrrr)

It "warmed up" to 1 degree today.

I've got all my humidifiers on full blast and I closed my guitar-den door to contain things.

It's like humidity DEFCON-4 around here.

Yes, the whole Northeast is in a cold snap for today and tomorrow. I'm in Maryland, about 15 miles south of Baltimore. The porch thermometer is showing 10 degrees (F). The 3 humidifiers have consumed 6 gallons of water since this morning and humidity is staying stable at 42%.

The bird feeder is topped-off and a new suet block is all ready for their breakfast. They chowed-down a whole block of suet today. The squirrels, bluejays and cardinals are getting ample peanut and acorn rations...

The 70lb mongrel (Rhodesian Ridgeback & Pit mix), the rat terrier and the Chihuahua are all on-and-about me -while I'm playing guitar. Not very comfortable -but cozy.

All is well...

Ray

57 degrees F (14 C) and a gazillion percent humidity here on the Wet Coast. Cherries are in bud (some in bloom), crocus are blooming.

-9.9 F @ 5:30 AM and not suppose to get above 10 F today.
Two large humidifiers going steady one up stairs one downstairs.
The guitars in their cases with Oasis sound hole humidifiers and at least two travel soap boxes with holes and damp sponges in each case.
45%-50% inside the cases.

It hit -25 degrees here in Northern MI over the weekend. But, we're pretty tough around here. Rather have the seasons and love to play in the snow. With 3 humidifiers, the house is staying above 40-45%. So, all is good.

My whole house humidifier, which normally has no problem keeping the house at 40%, can't keep up, been hovering around 32 since Saturday night. Sponge humidifiers in the guitar cases are drying out fast, too. But my 'baby', the Taylor, is at the shop for a set up and straplocks, hope their humidifier is keeping up!

It's been mid 70s to low 80s here in South Texas recently. Wore a t-shirt while washing both cars yesterday. This whole winter, I think we've hit sub-32-degrees for a total of 5 or 6 hours. My wife and my plants love it. OTOH, I won't be bragging much come July. Just sayin'...
