Octacore Strings Observation
I've been playing with them for a few weeks after seeing them mentioned
in a Newtone Masterclass PB discussion and have to say that I think I like their sound/tone as much or more than the Newtones which I have previously considered my favorites. I have notice however that they are considerably more squeaky, and not only from my fretting hand. I am also experience a squeak fingerpicking with my nails...a first for me. Anyone else trying these notice that? |

Yes I find the Octacores to be squeaky especially the first week or two. I still like them very much. Newtones are less so but the Octcores give me stronger bass notes.
They are loud strings with very rich upper harmonic overtones so maybe the squeak comes from that condition. Octacores remind me of Dean Markley Alchemy strings which also have glorious overtones and also are somewhat squeaky. The Alchemy strings though feel stiff to my fretting fingers, like bridge cables. I like both the Newtone Masterclass PB and the Octacores. They mellow my Taylor 414. |
