Default Zoom A3 xlr input question

Thanks in advance for any input on this. I've read online reviews/manuals, but can't find an answer. Interested in the Zoom A3, but I use the Taylor ES1 low impedance method of plugging my guitar in.
If I use my trs/xlr cable to go directly into the A3 xlr input, will that still work, or are the effects in the pedal limited to the 1/4" jack input?
I know the xlr input features 3 mic emulations but is that the only option, or does the mic input then travel through the same circuitry as the 1/4" input?
Finally, as another option, will this pedal work in an effects loop?
Thanks

I believe the mic can be placed before or after the effects in the chain. You need to look at the manual, but I believe thats the case, so it should work?

Thanks Steve, I guess this is the way I'll go connection wise. Appreciate it.
