Post T5 Saga

True when knobs are up the preamp makes a hss, that is acceptable and yes, do not top them off.

I tested out my T5 at a friends house last night with results I cannot explain, but at least I am on my way to avoiding this noise.

Testing products used:
Guitars used - T5, Les Paul, Gibson 335
Chords - Monster - Mogami TSR
Amps - Fender Frontman 25, Boss 20x, Masa Boogie stack, Masa Boogie combo.
Pedals: all kinds

Test results :
1) All guitars are clean in every combo of amp, pedals, and chord except the T5 in a boss amp.
2) T5 has an intermittent loud hss/buss/electrical static when used with boss 20x.

It can happen at start up, it can occur 15 minutes into a session, but it only happens with the boss 20x, and I believe it happens on the boss micro cube also, I will test that tonight.

I will be forced to play with my fender front man for now and rely on my pedals for the sound I like. I tried my pedals with the front man and T5, no noise.

The boss 20x has a sweet sound out of the box and rips with the t5 when needed, has a foot switch. Not as happy out of the box with the fender, but it is clean.

This may be a mystery never solved, but I do plan to share my information with Taylor and Boss/Roland

Wow the T5 sounds great in a masa boogie! Playin small rooms with these small amps are perfect for gigin and movin around. Just mic em up if more volume is needed. I played an outdoor gig with the boss 20x and a strat, the PA kicked it up no problem and the sound was great for a small practice amp no foot pedals.

Default T5 Electrical Hum and Hss problems

Hello Friends,
Nothing wrong with my T5. I had the same noise problem with a Washburn, went through all the drills, checking lights, fans, ground, pedals. Did all those things and my Washburn problem was a broken pickup. So when the T5 had the identical problem, I immediately went to the Washburn fix and changed the pickup. That was a mistake.
Turns out my ceiling fan and fluorescent lights are the entire problem, was not for the Washburn, I went to a friends house to test the T5 there, he has fluorescent there too.
My T5 has normal hss when the preamps are up.
Can't believe I didn't go through the entire drill.
Good luck T5 owners, still lovin mine.
And thank you forum for your happy birthday wishes
