Fretting hand numbness with one of my guitars
I started my acoustic journey on Taylors. The neck profile on my first Taylor was a huge factor in selecting that model.
I've tried Martins, but it was not until I played a 2015 D-18 that I found one where I liked both the tone and playability. Up until this, all of my guitars have a 1 3/4" neck width. A couple of months ago I acquired a Collings D2H, with it's standard 1 11/16", modified V neck. Now I love the tone of this Collings, and do like the way it plays. But here recently, I've started experiencing a bit of numbness in my pointer finger that extends down to the base of my thumb. This starts showing up after about 15-20 minutes of playing this D2H. I don't have this problem with my Taylors or my D-18. I've put the guitar away for a couple of weeks, hoping there was some weird pull or inflammation that a break from that guitar would clear up, but again tonight after about 20 minutes, this numbness started creeping in. So, I'm trying to decide on what to do with this Collings. It's a great guitar, but if I cannot play it, what good for?????? My initial thought would be to put it up for trade, looking for another D2H with a different neck width/profile. A straight sell and try something else is another. So, if you're still with me at this point, I guess I am soliciting other thoughts or ideas on this issue. Any and all input would be appreciated. D

numbed out
I think you are doing the right thing. If it is bothering you, why keep it? But why sell it until you are certain it is the guitar and not you? Give it that rest and see if the problem repeats. Do some experimentation if it does. If you end up convinced it is the guitar and not something else, then it's time for it to go.
