Default It's official- I'm retired!

As of yesterday! 20 years as a fedex delivery driver. Before you ask, no, I never mangled a guitar before I delivered it, or threw peoples' packages over an 8' privacy fence and then ran away I sure am aware that it has happened though, by us and brown...express is changing their methods to a more automated system now, keeping decision making out of the courier's hands by micro managing their stop orders. I missed the last 2 years of the transition phase because i've been on disability, so, it didn't really affect me. I found fedex a fair and good employer, I've got a good retirement package, and wifey and myself plan on travelling between Dallas, where my boys live, and Daytona beach , where we have friends who have invited us down in the winter. We hope to cultivate some new interests together, and maybe I'll get to add a new guitar to my stable in the future...It just feels good to be free!!!

Congrats to you. My wife and I retired a little over two years ago. It's all good. Have fun and good luck!

Congratulations!
It is quite a transition to go from working everyday to having the whole day to do whatever you want. I remember when my Dad retired he just about drove my Mom nuts because he was always around meddling in her kitchen and recommending how to run the house more efficiently...apparently she had been doing it all wrong for over 30 years. After managing people for so long it was a hard habit to break.
Get several hobbies and don't drive your wife crazy!

Congratulations! I hate you!

Not really, but I am definitely jealous...my retirement numbers won't work out for another three years (or less if the economy really improves!)

Enjoy!

Dallas and Daytona? Well...you have the winter covered. Might want to cultivate some friends up in Vermont or Oregon or Idaho for the summers.

Congratulations.

Callouses, from another retired FedEx-er (28 years in customer service), Congratulations!

You may find the adjustment difficult (I still feel like I'm getting away with something illicit) but the first time you can't remember immediately what day it is, you'll be on your way.

Congrats again, and enjoy!

Oh...you are, you are. I'm REALLY hoping that's how I feel in a few years, so I have to believe you're doing things right.

Oh, sweet! This is wonderful news and I am sincerely happy for you.

We hope to be healthy when we are old enough to retire, too.
