Not me. If my research shows that a surgeon or a dentist is highly trained and highly skilled with satisfied and loyal customers, I won't care much what they look like.

I think for us "non-tatters" it's always the permanence that seems foolish. I'm all for body decoration if it makes the person feel good, but why would you want to commit yourself to the same design for all your life? Why not get some temporary tattoos so that you can change them for variation and have the option of not having any at all at some point?

Generally I choose not to let other peoples dress or adornment affect my life so I don't think or care about it much.

Having been thru two major health operations in the last two years. I try focus on living each moment and day to the fullest, which leaves little time to invest in quirks and machinations of our culture which basically have no affect on myself and loved ones.

I think if I was a pirate, I'd be the only one without a tattoo. Just to be ornery!

I work with people who have tattoos. I can accept tattoos without being judgmental; people can do what they want to do with their bodies. But it is permanent, so once you do this, you're stuck with it. It's a fact that a lot of people react badly to tattoos, and if you are going to be working in a world where that is the case, you may be penalized.

A person can respond, "... how other people react is not my problem." But if you are in sales, giving technical presentations to potential customers or consulting engineers, many of whom react very negatively to tattoos, you are giving your competition one advantage over you that has nothing to do with the strength of your product. Perception, a very human emotion, makes a huge difference in some areas of life. Companies spend a fortune on creating an image, and tattoos can create a negative image.

When I was younger, long hair was a divider. But at least with long hair you could get a hair cut and change your image once you got a little older and realized that this "freak flag" (as David Crosby called it) was hurting your career.

Oh yeah, I neglected to note : Suicide Girls are NSFW . Not XXX though

I don't care either way ; tats can be hideous or beautiful, like all art . Some see their body as acanvas and it's not my position to judge that . Not everyone has good taste though , and when you match poor taste with mediocre tatistry it can be bad news.

I personally have not gone tat crazy nor has my wife or my dog. The three of us are the only "we" that is any of my business. And my wife could reasonably assert that what she does in respect to tattoos is not my business.

Given how many younger (which to me is under 40 at this point of my life) people you see with minimal to extensive ink, I think this is a problem that will self correct. Tattoos will be come more normal, and won't have such a social stigma attached to them. Every time Miley or Justin get a new tat, it's big news, and makes it appear more cool and desirable.

I once read somewhere that there are two kinds of people.
Those with tattoos and those who worry about people with tattoos.

I don't worry about people with tattoos at all, and I certainly don't have any. But, I certainly wouldn't hire anyone with excessive tattoos, and certainly not with any tattoos on the neck or face.

Wait, I take that back. I would POSSIBLY hire someone with face or neck tats, IF they were regulated to the back of the building, away from ANY clients view

It will get worse.....

When my oldest was thirteen we were at a park, I said; "see the old lady with what looks like kelp/seaweed on her back? when she was twenty those bruses were angel wings." Now he is 19. I asked him what he thinks of tats, he answered "KELP"
