Congrats on your next Hatcher! The woods look lovely, and Mark's skill and aesthetics will be sure to make them shine. Looking forward to seeing this progress and then come alive with your playing!

I've been bracing up the top and back. The top bracing requires some accommodation for the fan fret bridge. The increased angle of the saddle needs to be placed in relation to the position of the X-brace while still maintaining symmetry. You don't want to overlook things like landing a bridge pin through a leg of the X brace!

And just think, it won't be long until you and Mark are the only one's who remember it is there. No wait ... there is photographic evidence!

OK, a little bit, it does look cool

Here's a little more photographic evidence. We needed to decide on the fret board. Either Cocobolo; Or Black Ebony; We decided on the Black Ebony which will be bound with Cocobolo. Part of the choice was based on a yet undefined 12th fret inlay which will show better with the Black Ebony background. Thanks for following! Mark

I like the contrast of the ebony better, still loving that rosette burl...wonder why?

So my 4 year old saw me looking at this thread last night, she's fascinated with how things are made especially guitars(I wonder why?). So...you have one more eye keeping track of your progress here. She's very excited to see it come together....I am too.

I would love to hear suggestions for the 12th fret inlay. We inlaid the word "Greta" in pearloid on my first Hatcher, and that was inspired by the SCGC 12th fret logo:
Not really into bling or overly ornamental inlay at all, so something modest but beyond a dot or square would be desirable. Any thoughts?

I too find this a very hard part of the custom build...with my first Kinnaird, I went all the way from an entire fretboard vine inlay to something Steve designed himself. With the Hatcher I left it completely up to Mark and he came up with a great design that fed off of everything else on the guitar. For my current build I had a general theme in mind and then just went to google and searched images and found a couple I really liked. Steve is hopefully going to work from those....but for me, having this general theme helped a lot.

Tom, I like the theme idea....but all I can come up with is this for an all hog guitar:
