GC3 or GC7???
I'm looking to purchase one of these two models in the next week or so. I can get a really good deal on the GC7, which brings it only about $500 more than the GC3.
This guitar will serve as a couch guitar for fingerpicking and some light strumming--so I'm looking for the best all-around guitar of the two. Nothing plugged in or mic'd at this time. Unfortunately, I can't demo the two prior. thanks in advance for any feedback you may have on both of these models. |

The GC7 is a great sounding guitar; so is the GC5. I think these GC models with cedar tops sound terrific for finger picking and light strumming. I'd recommend this direction over the GC3, but then, that is only my opinion... nothing more.

Gc7 ftw! Rosewood all the way!

Of these two, I'd go with the GC7. Cedar/rosewood is a great combination. Nothing wrong with a GC3, though. Both are nice guitars.

I would definitely choose rosewood over sapele. I had a sapele 310 once and it didn't have the resonance of rosewood; it was a bit boring.
Are you sure you want the grand concert? It would be perfect for a couch picker and lighter strummer, as you describe. It may lack volume for other purposes. The grand auditorium is a more all-around guitar---very comfortable, better strummer, but the grand concert might be more comfortable as a couch guitar, if that's your main use. |

Former GC7 owner here...absolutely fantastic guitar. There's no contest when given the choice between those 2 guitars.

Thanks all, I pulled the trigger on the GC7. It'll be here by Christmas. I cannot wait. Looking forward to many evenings picking by the fireplace.

As someone who's owned both a GC3 and a GC7, I think you made the right decision. The GC7 is quite a bit prettier and more elegant looking. Slothead takes some getting used too, but it looks so cool.
The only advantage my GC3 had over the GC7 I had was headroom and punch. For playing with others, the GC3 excelled (GC7 tended to get lost among other instruments). But given your situation, that's not relevant here. |

Late response here, but good choice. I think you'll enjoy the resonance and overtones of the rosewood. If you're like me, the GC will be a goto/keeper. Any replacement will have a high bar to reach.
