Santa Barbara Acoustic Instrument Celebration
Hi All
Here's the first Press Release for sbaic.com, which goes online 9/1: "The 2016 Santa Barbara Acoustic Instrument Celebration announces the 120 participating luthiers for the largest gathering of premier acoustic instrument builders in the world. The festival will showcase 600 fine instruments for demonstration and sale directly from the maker, September 30 to October 2, 2016. Upcoming press releases during the fall will announce 24 master classes and 27 day and evening concerts by leading recording artists. Limited VIP/Buyers Day tickets will go on sale December 1, 2015. Please visit www.sbaic.com for more information." The evening concerts are being finalized, and they are going to be incredible! |

This is what I have been waiting for. I will definitely be there.
However, the link seems to not be working. Steve

The new trend of higher priced VIP tickets is certainly beneficial to those with lots of money. I am seeing it at music concerts and festivals.
Personally, I find it despicable. Does this mean that when the general public enters the next day, many of the best guitars might be sold and perhaps then unplayable? |

2016 Santa Barbara Show
I definitely plan to attend this show as I missed the last Healdsburg show. I'm hoping to have my next Baranik build done in time to pick up at the Santa Barbara show.
I'm very much looking forward to playing guitars from builders I have always admired. I really hoping that Kathy Wingert, Ed Claxton, Mark Blanchard and Jeff Traugott attend since they are California builders. I'm also looking forward to connecting with some fellow AGF members, and friends that I've met through this forum (hi Colin, Phil and Steve). Can't wait!!!

Steve, you might have been trying to get on as the website was being activated. It's up and running.
Alex, luthiers need to sell instruments, or they can't afford to come to any shows - that's very much the point of this. This is a show for and by luthiers and musicians. The VIP tickets will not be more expensive if you want to do everything, and you get to do stuff that is not open to the general public including the private party; they are packaged with one or both of the headliner concerts which have limited seating, so the VIP tickets are limited. And, yes, serious buyers will want to have the first pick and a mellower atmosphere to pick their favorite. If they bought out the show, which is highly unlikely with 600 instruments, you'll have one very happy group of luthiers!

Outstanding! This is in my backyard (well, figuratively speaking!). I live just a short 90 minute drive up the coast from Santa Barbara, so I'll definitely be there. I've been contemplating doing a custom build so the timing is perfect! What a great opportunity to meet some great luthiers and actually see and play their guitars.
Many thanks to the organizers! Hope to meet up "in person" with some of our fellow members that Ive gotten to know thru the AGF!

Come by the McKnight guitar table. Introduce yourself to the younger McKnight guitar builder. Our daughter, Adrianne, is in the process of building a guitar for this show. Tim and I will enjoy meeting you, too!

Great website; looks like it will be a fantastic event; I hope to make it.
For those unfamiliar with the SB area, it's one of the best and worst places to be. : ) Best, in beauty, "vibe," climate, etc. Main headaches are getting there and staying there. I would plan ahead, as to flights and accommodations, as both are limited and pricey. |
