Default Teja Gerken Workshops in San Francisco this Thursday

Hi All,

I'll be teaching two showr workshops (1.5 hours each) at San Francisco's Blue Bear School of music this coming Thursday night. Here's a bit of info:

Alternate Tunings
Thursday September 24, 7-8:30 pm
Use tunings to expand the guitar’s tonal palette, create fuller sounds through open-string voicings, and enable modern fingerstyle techniques (two-handed tapping and harmonic slaps) that are difficult to achieve in standard tuning. Tunings include Drop-D, DADGAD, D-Minor, G-Minor, Gsus4 (“Orkney”), and others. Students will learn how to apply their existing knowledge of the fingerboard to alternate tunings, with specific exercises and several of Teja’s original compositions and arrangements.

Classical Guitar for Steel String Players
Thursday September 24, 8:30-10 pm
This seminar will focus on elements of classical guitar technique that can help steel-string players become more proficient and will introduce some repertoire that is fun to play and easy to tackle. Teja will demonstrate classical right- and left-hand approaches, ergonomic considerations, and tone production, while also discussing classical compositional forms, sight-reading skills, and a fingerstylist’s command of the instrument. For intermediate players; includes handouts in standard notation and TAB.

Details about location, enrollment, etc. is at http://bluebearmusic.org/blue-bear-p...usic-seminars/ Cost is $30 for each class.

Thanks,
Teja Gerken

Well, as it turns out, these workshops have been cancelled... Hopefully there will be another chance in the future.
