Default Finally finished The Sopranos

And it only took me about six years.
(all six seasons are currently on Amazon Prime)

While not my favorite it was enjoyable.
Now the struggle to find another long series that will keep me interested.

Anyone else finish this series?

I have the complete DVD set but I watched it when it was broadcast on HBO. I loved the show. Too bad that there can't be a sequel due to the death of James Gandolfini.

A lot of people griped about the "cliffhanger" ending... But I didn't think it was a cliffhanger at all. I thought the cinematography in the final scene made it exceptionally clear what happened. It was a cool show.

One of my favorite series is Californication starring David Duchovny.

And if you like dark stuff, "The Fall" and "Black Mirror" on Netflix were pretty great.

I watched Sopranos several times although I was sorry [Spoiler Alert] to see Tony's crew decimated. You ought to try watching The Wire. Very gritty and I'm told very realistic regarding Baltimore....

You don't finish the Sopranos - they finish you...

I loved "Black Mirror". Some of the episode are truly cinematic masterpieces. The episode San Junipero, in particular, stayed in my mind for weeks after I watched it. The Entire History of You is very thought provoking as well.

The Entire History of You was probably my favorite. That, or the one with the drone bees.

I was super impressed (and creeped out) by the whole concept of the show: take our modern society, sprinkle in just a *little* more technology than we already have, apply some of the more negative aspects of human nature, and see how terrible our lives could easily become!

I like dark... especially when it could totally be/become reality!

Loved The Sopranos! Finished the series about a year ago after binge watching it.

I'll second RP's suggestion about The Wire- binge watching currently @ season 5. Definitely not The Sopranos but a superb (and yes very gritty) drama. Another series I enjoyed was Justified. A bit more tongue in cheek, but very entertaining.

Excellent. Perhaps you can explain it to me, because I didn't get it at all.

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT

To me, it comes down to the "routine" the director/producer used in the final scene in the diner:

Tony is alone awaiting his family.

The bell on the front door chimes because someone has entered the diner.

Camera switches to looking at Tony so we can see him look up to see who's arrived.

Camera switches to Tony's perspective, and we see (as tony sees) who is entering.

This routine is repeated, exactly, every time.

When AJ arrives, there is a dude that walks in behind... Later in the scene, that dude goes to the restroom and walks by Tony.

Later in the scene, the entrance bell dings:

Camera looks at Tony, he looks up to see who's arrived. Camera switches to Tony's perspective, and it's black, because from Tony's perspective, all you see is black - because he's dead.

The dude that walked in behind AJ is a gangster there to kill Tony.

I bought all 6 seasons I enjoyed it so much.

One year for my birthday my wife gave me a Sopranos bus tour out of Manhattan.

We met Vincent Pastore, went to the Botta Bing, Pizzaland, Pork Store, had lunch at the candy store where Tony met his demise.

Lotta fun it was.

San Junipero might be the single best hour of television I have ever watched. Just fantastic writing, acting, directing... One of the few pieces of pop culture that truly deserves the praise it gets.

If you like dark try 'The Handmaids Tale' .... it's like watching a nightmare.
