Anyone play live with a looper?

Exactly. The high end multi-loop Boss units (RC-50, RC-300) will do this as well, but the ease with which the boomerang does it, without any menu twiddling, is really impressive.

OK, now I'm intrigued. I guess I'll check out some Boomerang YouTube demos, but if anyone has any info on how the Boomerang might offer some advantages over my RC20XL in helping to make the seams more seamless -- perfecting the timing and transitions and all that, as Doug mentions above -- please share! My unit works well for the simple stuff I do, but it's always just a bit of a challenge to get the starts/stops just right....

I have the original JamMan ( 2 of em ). I loved the first one so much, I got another for backup/more songs. I have 99 full songs recorded on each looper for a total of 198 songs - full arrangements. Hours of accompaniment. Could do 3 or 4 gigs and never repeat a song if I wanted to.

Sometimes I just solo over the tracks (no vocals), other times I sing and also play along. Makes it easy to play songs live without worrying about screwing up. (lol) Gives a great full sound even when playing solo jobs. Even when singing, I can take a solo and still have rhythm going. I recently picked up a TC Helicon GTX harmonizer, so I can get vocal harmonies also.

And of course, you can use them in the "traditional" looping sense also.

The original JamMan is no longer available new, but they can be had on ebay used. The stereo version is available new, which I'm sure is awesome.

I recommend checking out JamMan products, they sound great and are bullettproof.

Probably dating myself here :-), but the "original jamman" was this one:

The one Phil Keaggy is known for, and still uses. It doesn't let you store tunes and can loop only 32 seconds (up from 8 seconds before upgrading!). The Digitech Jamman that appeared a decade or so later, is a completely different device that used the same name.
