Default need ipad pro mic stand mount recommendations

What are you folks using to mount your ipads to mic stands? The pros and cons of whatever mount you're using would be helpful. Thanks all!

Hi Jim

I've used 4 different iPads (all 9˝") for music for years, and the weakness of all the mounts I've tried is the plastic used in them. Especially in the joint which couples the iPad assembly to the stand assembly.

I have one which has great design, but the connection housing is plastic which grips the ball that holds the iPad in place. I was concerned about it when I bought it, and when it failed, the company replaced it and sent me three connector pieces (which tells me they know it's weak as well). Each end was built well, but the connection joint was plastic?

It was sold as the ChargerCity Dual Joint Rotate Adjust Aluminum Pole/Bar C Clamp Podium Orchestra Music Mic Microphone Stand Mount for Apple iPad Air. If you look for it on Amazon it is no longer available and for good reason - they kept breaking and falling apart.

I still have mine but prefer my small all-metal music stand…which works just fine. Cost me $25 on Amazon (still costs $25 from Amazon). This is the picture of my all metal mic stand music stand with an iPad on it. I have 2, and on one the jaws were widened (ground by a metal worker) and it now fits the bottom section of the stand, and sits low to the ground so I can see over it when playing seated.

I saw a video of a film crew who were using tablets (and other external monitors of similar size) in all metal housings, so I'm looking for those. So far I have not located them, and when I do, I'm sure they will be pricey - but so is a new tablet if one drops to the floor.

I'm not pursuing it very heavily, but I'd sure think someone out there has a device which will work, and stand up to regular use.

This is the best one I've found so far. It'll hold my iPad, iPad Mini or my phone if I need it to. Not expensive and built really well. I used a Gator Mount for a long time and they are great quality but aren't adjustable to different size iPads and they can't be offset to the side of the mic stand. I was always having to try to see through the mic to read it.

One of my band mates uses an Airturn Manos for her iPad Pro. I use the same for my 12.1 inch Samsung. No complaints, works well.

Thanks Larry. I have one of those but I was hoping to find something that would be more secure since this new iPad Pro cost me $1200.

Mick, how much of that mount is plastic vs metal?

The Manos looks sturdy but I'm not sure I like the idea of just having two clips holding the pad in place.

Does anyone have any experience with this one?

These are strong and work great. No need to spend $50 and up

I don't think you're going to find one that isn't primarily some sort of plastic. This one isn't a regular plastic, it's more of a durable molded polymer. I'm very comfortable using it. It's got about 50 gigs in it now.

I just took another look and it won't fit my 12.9 inch ipad pro.
I'll keep looking.

I have been using the AirTurn Manos with my iPad Pro 12.9 inch for over a year and love it. No problem/concerns with it grasping the iPad with the two clips. I have no issues with it.
