If you check the "downloadable" link, then people who care to hear it at higher quality can download the original file, which also helps people see things like your levels, whether you're clipping and on.
Thanks Doug, I'll try that. I also have Adobe Audition 1.5 that saves as wav files as well as mp3.

I don't use anything expensive. PC running Sonar X1 Studio with an M-Audio Audiophile 192 sound card in a PCI slot. I use an SE Electronics Magnum condenser mic and a lowly ART Tube MP preamp.

Still sounds miles better than using the pickup in the guitar.

I'm having fun anyway.

Guitar(s) (occasionally voice as well) -> matched pair of Gefell M300s or matched pair of AKG 451s -> Apogee Quartet -> Logic Pro X (2010 White MacBook).

If you want one device that does a great job, check out MOTU Track 16. It is a sixteen channel digital mixer with effects and comes with recording software. It is about 2/3 the size of a Mac mini. Without an outboard devise ( 16 tracks needs a firewire devise with at least 8 inputs) you get two line inputs, two mic inputs, and two guitar inputs . Firewire or USB conections, or line outputs. Powered by wall wart, USB, or firewire. This one unit replaced a rack of gear and a bunch of wires in one neat and tidy package. Not cheap but not too expensive either. Makes a very good home studio. Did I mention phantom power on the mic inputs?

Oh, and you can use a tablet to control it if you want to use it as a mixer at gigs.

I also have a MXL pair - the 990/991 which I don't use.
Likely just updating the Tascam US-122 with something of about equivalent original cost would be an improvement. Digital devices have come a long ways in the last ten years.
