Default Tuners on electrics vs acoustics

The tuners on my acoustics are so much more precise than those that came on my Highway One Tele.

Is there some reason for this? If not, what replacement tuners would y'all recommend, and how high can I / should I go on the gear ratio?

(it's an easy DIY project, right?)

Thanks!

Yes, if the tuners are similar enough.

You may need to ream or fill the main hole, and in some cases the screw holes won't line up leaving exposed holes, if the new tuners are too different from original.
