One more thing about the VM1 Brauner, it is also a top flight vocal mic. One the does see a fair amount of use in places like Nashville, where the vocal is king.

P.S. my first car cost me $75.00 HUMMMM ???

Good thought thanks. The bad news ? I traded a pair of 44s in on the Schoeps. The good news is I still have my Brauner Phantom V that I use for vocals. So I will try the Brauner and Schoeps in MS !! sort of an MS across der Rhine

OK I tried my first recording tests at my studio with the Schoeps CMC6 mk4 and all I can say is I am very very pleased.

There is so much presence yet so balanced and smooth. I am running it through an A-Designs MP2A tube pre And it was interesting to note the rather significant difference in sound volume between the 600 ohm and the 10,000 ohm positions on the pre. The 600 being noticeably louder. I did not notice this near as much with the KSM44.

I did experience what Doug had mentioned about mic position. Definitely a big change in sound with just an inch of change in position . However it actually sounds good yet different in several positions. For example between 14th fret position and just below the bridge I personally liked the bridge. but both positions sound quite good.
