I bought my Taylor 450 12 string new in 1997 so it's 19 years old now. It plays and sounds just the same as it did when I bought it. Very nice guitar !!

I have 2 which qualify under the 20 year rule.
A 1983 615, which I bought new and have now had for 33 years. A 1992 412, which I bought used a couple of years ago. Here they are for your viewing pleasure: and the amazing quilted maple back of the 615. It is actually much more 3-dimensional than the photo brings out.

My oldest Taylor's are a 414ce and a 410 dating from 2001. Only 15 years old now, but they will be 20 when this thread resurrects again in five more years.

Well I still own 2 of the three I had when this thread started. A 31 year old 550 12 string and my 27 year old K22. Both still in great shape with no issues.

I owned a 1979 Taylor Dreadnought (built in 1978), Mahogany/Spruce which I sold to a student who needed an upgrade. I played it a few years back, and it is a really awesome acoustic guitar. It's owned by the sister of my former student (she inherited it when he died) and she won't sell it back to me. Actually, had a friend's 1970 Martin D-28 here at the time, and played them side by side, and they were very similar in every regard, including the deep rich bass, and great projection. The fit-n-finish on the Taylor was every bit as good as that on the Martin.

My wife's 410 is a 1991 if I remember correct. It is a pin less bridge mahogany model. Great sounding guitar.
The satin finish has become more of a sweet looking semi gloss over the years. The guitar is a real beauty. Last edited by L20A; 04-03-2016 at 08:19 PM. |

My parents took a chance and bought me a birth-year 1981 Taylor 510 from shopgoodwill.com. It has a lot of scars and dings (just like its owner), but it is one of the best guitars I've ever played. The neck feels like it's right off an electric guitar.
