Looking for a Narrow Nut Width Nylon String
The title says it. I will be using a pick, need electronics in it. Are the Yamahas still the best bang for the buck?

Looking at Ibanez GA5TCE myself. I know it is an all laminate and thin body. Planning to primarily play it plugged in.

The Yamaha's I have run across tend to be the cleanest builds for the price. They tend to have good setups and fretwork. The NTXs have narrow necks. Too narrow for me. I find the Yamahas have a smaller acoustic voice and are built a little heavier. I own one, a discontinued CGX171SCF, and while a decent plugged in guitar, it would never be my pick for unplugged.
Cordoba's won't be as nice a build but will be a lighter build and have a nicer acoustic sound and a serviceable plugged in sound, at least as good the corresponding Yamaha. You may have to get a little fret work to get a Cordoba playing its best. But you may not. Both make bang for the buck guitars. hunter |

I have a Yamaha hybrid - 48mm nut, cutaway, electronics - love it to bits.

You can get an all-solid Yamaha crossover with cutaway and electronics. The Cordoba Fusion cutaway has laminated back and sides, if that's an issue.

For what it's worth I really like the Taylor classicals, but I've just ordered a Hanika which I've spec'd up to have a narrower thinner neck than usual, also, if you are looking for an affordable option for gigging the Fender CN-240SCE is a thinline classical that I really like.

really, really like my Cordoba Fusion 12 Maple.
48mm(1-7/8") width and a shorter 640mm(25.2) scale length. Very playable. |

I am a big fan of the Yamaha NTX series.
Sounds good unplugged and sounds great amplified. I play it with a pick all the time, and when I combine it with my line 6 amplifi, I can make it sound pretty much anyway I want Plus, for $400 how can you go wrong? |

I have a Taylor NS34ce hybrid, which looks a lot like the photo above, and fulfills my need for the nylon sound without a 2-1/8" wide classical neck. Most of the other options mentioned above will be cheaper.

Looking for a nylon string guitar with a narrow nut?
I would highly recommend looking at a Martin 000C Nylon hybrid. The nut is 1-7/8" and it's a cutaway with Fishman electronics. Solid Sitka soundboard, with solid sapele back & sides. The 000-12 fret body, coupled with a 670mm scale length give this guitar amazing tone and volume! It's my "go-to" guitar, and sounds great played with or without my amp. They are more expensive ($1200 street), but if you can find one used, you can save a little. And, they are worth every penny!!!
Glen It's the one in the center!
