How was it shipped? i.e. How protected was it? Shipping padding etc? Last guitar I got from MF was banged up so bad I had to send it back? Wondering if Gibson does a little better.
Thanks |

It was packed in the soft case ( a lot nicer than a gig bag)- plenty of padding and secure. Then it was in a Gibson box. Then, the Gibson box was inside a larger box. It arrived without any damage.

I have played a few Les Paul’s that belonged to friends and several Strats including my son’s instruments.
I have had people tell me the Les Paul is for rythm, not lead, and for heavy metal, not soft stuff like I play. In spite of “what people say,” I like a Les Paul. Thinking about buying one. Am I just a rebel? .

Don't believe any of those clichés that those people told you. You can play anything you want on any of those guitars. I have 2 Les Pauls and 2 Strats, and both models are versatile instruments - enjoy yours!

I like playing jazzy stuff, soft rock, Beatles, things like that. Christmas carols. I'm not into metal at all. I like my Strat, but the Les sounds great.
My photos bite, but here it is, along with a photo of the case it comes with. |

I think your pictures are great G! Don’t sell your photography skills short. The guitar looks great!
Have you ever compared the one you bought to the much more expensive Les Paul Traditional model? I fully expect that yours is more for the money, but I am just trying to make sure I don’t look up later and wish I had bought the Traditional. You sound very pleased with yours and am sure it is great. I always vacillate like this before I buy something so thanks for bearing with me.

Thanks a bunch G. I think I am going to do it except I like the Faded Honey Burst better. That part is just a matter of taste.
I appreciate your starting this thread and providing so much detailed information.

Okay, I pulled the trigger! It is on its way.
I had been looking at the lesser expensive Les Paul’s on another online retailers website. They had them at $1,099. Your thread sounded too good to be true, but it is. Now I just need to hope that mine is as good as G’s and has no shipping damage. One thing I remember about both Les Paul’s that I played was silk smooth tuning pegs. They were both expensive US models. I hope this one has the same tuning peg feel. What strings do you Plan on using G?

Honestly, I haven't even thought about strings. What do you think?

I haven’t had my hands on the guitar yet, but I am thinking tens to start with but I like light strings. D’iaderro’s.
Edit: I was looking at the specs and the guitar comes with nines. If Gibson is good enough with them from the factory, I will give ‘em a chance. Is it nines that Earnie Ball calls the slinkies?
