Default Schenk

A friend of mine who suffers with terminal GAS has always taking a different view to me in terms of taste. Whereas I've been buying American boutiques, he's always been a 'don't care what it looks like' and 'you can't beat an old Martin' man.

However, he's now come back from the shop with a Schenk that he's thrilled to bits with. It looks like a bigger brother to my Doerr Trinity - they could be related. It rings like a bell and we both had grins from ear to ear when I played it. He's a convert now.

Rod Schenk builds wonderful guitars ... what did your friend get? So far, I've been only getting Mahogany/Spruce (Carpathian and Adirondack), but who knows what's next.

Rod Schenk definitely builds a great guitar. I recently had the pleasure of playing almost identical rosewood, ziricote and koa Grand Fingerstyle models together - it really gave me an appreciation of how different back/side woods affect tone.

If its who I think it is he has had some nice luthier made guitars too. On the same presumption it is Englemann and Ziricote.

Hi,

I recently purchased a Schenk Koa / Engelmann Custom FE. It's spectacular! (and that's not a word I just throw around). I have a GK Windwalker on order now. I would highly recommend Schenk guitars!

Colby, is yours one of his Killer Koa series? Rod has some really nice looking Koa.

Have you tried his RD Flattpicker? It's turning into my favorite dreadnought ... I haven't tried his new model, the Ophirio.

I took delivery of a couple of Ophirios a few weeks ago. They are very impressive. Details on my website, sound clips to come.
