Default That moment when...

You are at the last part of the gig day(Ren Faire) and you break a string....realizing once you get home that you also dropped the bridge pin. Good thing I have multiple guitars now to decide if I should order a new set from CA or just go buy a set from the local music store.

How much do bridge pins actually effect the sound?

Does CA sell replacement pins, saddles, and nuts? I can't find any mention on the web.

What size pins does CA use, presentation?

I believe they do. Or at least I believe when I was emailing them about other issues they mentioned they sell them.

As to exact size... i am honestly unsure. I do note they are shorter than the pins in my wood guitars. I "borrowed" a pin out of my Fender and size wise its similar but its about half again longer.

You can seem them below along with the one from the island of misfit toys
I would just wait but have to be back on stage again all day tomorrow.

Great saddle pin hack there. Always reminding you that that eccentric g that will go off tune and always to tune it in between every other song...

Yes, bridge pins do make a great difference on tone. Time to get one of those titanium or better still - dinosaurs bones one, If you ever locate a set.

Word is that the left foreleg femur of the female Triceratops roughly at age 4 (in Dino years) is the current best material for said pins. Has to either be actual bone or if fossilized contain at least 47% non metallic iron ore. Hope this helps.

Found this in the Graphtech FAQ (bolding in mine, for emphasis):

How do I know if your bridge pins will fit my guitar?
We make two pin sizes which are available in numerous color and dot configurations. The vast majority of guitars will fit our Traditional sized Martin style pins, while some guitars such as Taylor, Art & Lutherie, Seagull, Norman, Simon and Patrick, Godin, Composite Acoustics, and some Larrivee models will fit our narrower shaft Presentation style pin.

When Michael closed his Salt Lake shop, he continued to work on saddles, pins, and nuts. His Carbon Fiber guitar Forum ran a number of threads dealing with the importance of guitar pieces/parts. I don't know if he is still open, but someone on this forum probably knows???

I have purchased several sets of bone pins, and a few bone saddles from him recently. He is very responsive, and was quite helpful answering questions during my recent search for a first CF guitar. Wonderful customer service.

This is the info you need cheeks, if you're looking for the pins that came with your guitar. I believe CA uses the presentation pins.

I emailed Michael and his advice was contact the company. I have a temp set of plastic pins that seem to have added way to much treble to the sound so i will be contacting CA about a proper replacement set or even just ONE pin to replace the missing one.
