Default I just broke my Emerald X20...

bag's zipper tab.

I was putting my X20 in and the tab broke off. Anyone happen to know an easy fix? My two initial thoughts are either don't worry about it or hook a paper clip to it.

Whew! Of course, you got me. Glad it wasn't the guitar. No idea on a fix. After that, you don't deserve one!

Zippers are usually pretty easy to repair. However if you haven't done it before you may want to pay someone to do it. I'm sure there's dozens of videos on YouTube about how to replace a zipper head.

You have to go buy a new zipper head that fits that exact zipper (take the bag with you). Then at one of the ends that the zipper terminates, there should be a tab that you can gently pry off with pliers and pull out. You need to be careful doing this so that you can put it back the way it was.. Then you can slide that broken zipper head out and put the new one on. Aside from that you'd have to replace the entire zipper.

Wow Mot...I cannot imagine the angst you are feeling from this "zipper malfunction" Amigo!!!
Perhaps it's time for another Go Fund Me campaign similar to a "paper sticker" one from a previous post???
Seriously though, I hope this can be fixed with little effort...

A Lucky 13 was destroyed some time back. So this is highly possible.

Still, you pulled off a great one here!

I'm suffering over here. After almost 4 years of playing my X20 nearly every day something finally broke. Actually my sticker fell off a year or so ago, and I probably should get that seen to also. I usually leave my X20 hanging on the wall, but I am doing yet another bathroom repair, didn't want instruments nearby exposed to my stupidity and have been storing it in the bag instead.

Just the tab ring snapped as I was zipping it up for the night, so there is no need of replacing the zipper. I have never repaired this aspect of a zipper before but it seems pretty simple and I still have the other tab since it is a two way zipper. I don't think it warrants ripping out the entire zipper and replacing it.

On another note I took my Lucky 13 to the office to keep it safe from the bathroom repair idiot, and now I have a love sick 60 year old man drooling over and playing it whenever he has a chance. He's asking lots of questions too. One of them was, "How can you leave this amazing guitar at work?" Now he wants to see the guitar that I didn't drop off at work.

If you have a West marine store near you, they carry a nice braided Shackle lanyard that would work well. https://www.westmarine.com/buy/ronst...pCode=12041240

You got me with that one, too. I always pictured being able to run over an X20 with my pickup truck and not even putting a scratch on it.

If it is just the zipper tang that came off, you can replace it with an inexpensive zipper pull.

Every zipper fix you might need...

First the sticker, now the zipper pull? After only 4 years? Man, you are hard on your equipment!

I've used the split ring from keys to replace the tab. Just work it into the slider's hole -- done! Much like the paper clip idea, but a bit easier to grab. Or some heavy string to make a loop to grab.

The question is, why the heck were you putting the guitar into the bag in the first place?!? Unless you were transporting it someplace this could be divine retribution for 'putting baby in a corner'... "No one puts Baby in a corner..."

Email Emerald. They would probably send you a new tab!
