Cool X-Y Mount
Didn't want to sidetrack the cool ORTF topic, so thought I'd jump in to say it's easy enough to D.I.Y. mic mounts to suit your purpose. Here's a X-Y mount that I knocked out, but I also have a spaced pair mount and others that I've done.

Schedule 80 pvc plumbing pipe; it's available at Lowe's for a few dollars for a 5 foot length.

I stopped into our local plastics supply and picked up the solid center piece from their free scrap bin. It's angled and glued to the pvc pipe using standard pvc glue and a couple small reinforcement pieces were added. I made up the tapered wood section that fits the microphone clip from a bit of walnut, but these mounts are commonly available. The plastic version is sold so a camera can be easily held by a microphone clip. Hope that helps! |
