FS-Tacoma Roadking DM8C $400
Hello All,
I have a USA-made, pre-Fender Tacoma Roadking DM8C dreadnought for sale. The top is solid Sitka spruce with a fair amount of bear claw figure over solid mahogany back and sides. The finish is satin, the nut is 1.75" wide, the spacing is 2&1/4 at the bridge, and it has a cutaway to allow access to the upper frets. The frets are slightly larger than what I'm used to (Martin frets for reference) which makes for easy fretting. There is minimal fretwear which is further minimized by the larg-ish frets. There is a factory LR Baggs active system in the guitar, but I will not speak to the functionality if the pickup. I am selling the guitar for its acoustic value alone (pickup may be just fine). This model is unique in cthree ways. The sound hole is on the bass side of the upper bout in the paisley shape these Tacomas are known for. Also, the neck joins the body by way of two bolts-similar to an electric guitar. Finally, the bridge is unconventional in that there are no bridge pins. The ball ends of each string fit into one end of three horseshoe-type slots that retain each string under the tension of each slot. A non-original hard case will be included with 4 working latches and in good condition. There is some play-wear around the clear pickguard, but it it minimal. Upon giving it a workout, this is a great acoustic with good medium-low action and a deep, resonant bass. The neck profile is what I would consider "modern" like a Taylor or modern Martin (PA-taper). The trebles are very present and the highs are what I would describe as bright and chimey. It is responsive to fingers or a heavy pick. There are also no dead frets. I received the guitar in a trade, and just have no room for another acoustic right now. I have not sold a guitar here since photobucket quit hosting for free, so I can send any requested photos by text or email. Please PM me with any interest. I have sold (and bought) a number of guitars in these AGF classifieds and have never had a disappointed buyer. Thank you for looking. Drew Last edited by drew b; 10-07-2017 at 11:07 AM. |

Bump.
Had one of these, as well as a Tacoma Chief. Want to hear what a Roadking sounds like recorded? Used mine for a bunch of stuff on the Will Play Guitar for Food CD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duAvAYjaK7M |

All solid wood American made guitar for this price? I'd hit it if my stable were not full. Also, my Road King was the guitar that taught me I am too short to play a dread sitting down. That is when I switched to a Tacoma Chief.
They are not making any more of these since Fender bought Tacoma and shut it down. Piece of history and a killer, killer guitar ... |

Found an amp to plug into, and I cannot get the Baggs pickup to work. The guitar stands on its own as a straight acoustic, but I will drop the price to $400 (may be willing to split shipping). This is an all-American, all-wood guitar that is just an all-around good one.
