Default Sunburst

BEAUTIFUL guitar, JR!! Bevan is going to be at the Memphis Guitar Festival and said he was going to make something really special - can't wait to see what he's going to come up with!

Default gluing the back on

Using hide glue to attach the back to the sides poses some challenges, as there is too much gluing surface and to many clamps to do it all at once before the hide glue gels. My approach is to use a heat gun and work in sections. I will warm up a section (which will shrink it), brush on glue (which expands it), press it home, and add the go-bar clamps.

This is my favorite body style for a guitar. I'm not normally one who likes black sunbursts as well but that is actually a very appealing/looking guitar color you are shooting for! Hope to see lots more pics.

I've had my 00 for about a month. I opted for a 25.4" scale in Honduran rosewood and red spruce. Its is truly a BIG sounding guitar for its size and feels very much like my vintage Martin 00 but with a more comfortable neck profile and a 1 3/4" nut width. A very lightly built guitar, strung with light gauge strings it responds well to both finger picks or being flat picked.

Now that is one handsome guitar .. combining old world (traditional) aesthetics with a respectful updated look. The honduran rosewood (D. Stevensonii?) w/ red spruce is a great combo for clarity, volume and projection. Congrats!

I've been talking with Bevan and we've decided to do some pearl on the fretboard. The whole thing. Hearkening to guitars of the early 20th century... Here's an example that I found on the web at Spruce Tree music -

Some updates from Bevan....

Sanding the body smooth and routing the binding rabbets.

Installing the end-graft

Bending the bloodwood binding...

Bevan's great grandfather's drafting set, which he uses to lay out the end graft.
