A little rosette work that might fit the theme of Memphis?

And the finished rosette under a coat of sealer:

Now just for a sound port with a similar theme I have always envisioned a stave with a couple of stray notes where the stave lines and music notes make up the holes of the sound port haha

Nice rosette, Tim! Sorry I will not be able to test drive these babies in Memphis but I will look forward to your reports.

Best,
Jayne

Hi Jayne,
I can sense the frustration and weariness in your post. Mary said you are long overdue for a vacation and we are sensing a road trip may be needed to calm your spirit and put you back in the correct frame of mind that an acoustic player needs from time to time

That Mary. Airplanes, cigars, masted sailing ships - and now eighth notes! Lovely rosette, Tim; intrigued to see the soundport (and whatever else you and Mary have up your sleeves for this guitar) and hoping I might get to see the finished product before it hits Beale Street.

Kurt, (Eire) you know where the guitar is if you are in the neighborhood.

The guitar side sound port will be the just the final cream of the crop. The back inlay is what makes me smile. Tim handled letting me make music ... to the eye.

If only I could be at the show just to play this guitar!

Tim, is the Gaboon ebony a heavy wood, in comparison to, say, EIR?

Hey there, Dru!

Tim is at his work bench while I (wo)man the computer in the wood shop. His reply to your question is that the ebony is much more dense so yes, Sir, it is a little heavier.

Remember when hippies ruled the roost? They were known to say, "That's really heavy, Man." Hippies were smart to know this is a good thing!

I really like the sound hole decoration on this guitar.

Hey Mary, thanks for the info. As far as the hippy movement of the late '60s, I came along just after that

Thanks Rob. As this project unfolds you will see how the rosette will tie into the overall theme of the project. Its been a fun ride but certainly one that has not been without some bumps in the road.
