Default Gibson pickguard

I have acquired a 1948 Gibson L-7 archtop; I have searched the internet high and low on how to attach my repro pickguard at the fingerboard area. I have the bracket (coming off the side of the body to the underside of the pickguard) but can't figure out how the upper portion attaches. Any help with or without photos would be appreciated. FYI-the original pickguard had disintegrated by the time I received the guitar.

Drop a line to Joe Vinikow at www.archtop.com - if he can't solve your vintage archtop problem nobody can...

That's what I was going to say.

Same like mandolin? Attached directly to the side of the fingerboard?

The wood screw goes through a piece of wood you can see in upper left corner.

Not exactly.

George Gruhn can easily give Joe a run for the money when it comes to vintage guitars, archtops or otherwise.
