Default Composite Acoustic - RT vs Player tone

Greetings,

Looking for comments from those who have trired the CA guitars' RT and Player series side by side.

They are supposed to sound identical with merely a finish difference. Can anyone confirm this experientially?

Thanks,
PTL

i was told by one of the guy at CA that they sound identical. The only differences was the Glossy finish on the Player. Hope that help.

Indeed. However, I read in one post that someone thought the RT sounded inferior to the Player. Thus, I'd love to have some 1st experience comments from players in this enthusiast board.

Thanks!

PTL

it will be a good chance that I will be going to the store I bought mine next Friday(feb 8th) to an open jam and they have BOTH in stock. I did play them and I THINK that they were very simular but my memory is not 100%. I do know absolutely 100% that they are DIFFERENT than my GX performer. The performer uses a updated bracing. What I got was that the performer was richer or a little darker toned( Martin like) and the Player was more like a Taylor 410 or so. Still real good tone but a bit brigher over all.

Leeasam, great data point.

You were playing GX in both the Player and the Performer series right? Meaning comparing same model, but different pricing point.

Thanks,
PTL

yup I played all THREE versions. the Performer-- the player and the RT all GX. for some reason though I can not recall IF there was any noticeable difference in the player and RT. I do know they both sounded very good but I have gravitated towards a deeper warmer martin like tone lately and I like the I Mix for plugging in as I do that weekly.

Thanks Lee. Most helpful.

When you are there, would you mind also noting any differences in volume when played acoustically? (If it's not too much to ask....)

Thanks,
PTL

sure I can do that. Hopefully nothing comes up and I can make it ok next Friday.

You may try calling them and talking to JIM and he could play them both over the phone( I know not real good way but you may hear if any difference) Have him play the same thing on both and have the phone in the same position.

BTW the prices on the website are higher than what I paid and what they have hanging on the wall.
